Event Description

2016 Hambidge Art Auction & Field Experiment Gala

Co-presented by the Goat Farm Arts Center, the spectacular Hambidge Art Auction & Field Experiment Gala will take place on Saturday, April 23. Stimulating the senses, triggering new thoughts and offering moments of contemplation, this year’s event will yield a tangled rhythm of inspiring experiences.

Honorary Chair Kevin Rathbun will lead a culinary spectacle of sights, smells and tastes.

New this year, 12 distinguished curators -
Lucinda Bunnen, Bethany Collins, Mark DiNatale, Craig Drennen, Julia Fenton, Alex Gingrow, Ben Goldman, Carr McCuiston, Joey Orr, Adrienne Outlaw, Fahamu Pecou, and Dayna Thacker - have selected artworks from a new breed of emerging and established artists from across the country

Five FIELD EXPERIMENT finalists will present their captivating concepts. The Goat Farm and Hambidge jointly created this initiative to develop transformative ideas through a widely observable public action.  Selected from 77 submissions from scientists, artists, performers and visionaries across the world, one of these finalists will be awarded the $20,000 commission to realize their grand scale vision in the streets of Atlanta this fall.

Private Preview Party, 5-7pm
Sponsors, Patrons, Hosts and VIP ticket holders will have the first opportunity to purchase “$100 Works on Paper,” the first glimpse of the Field Experiment finalists’ projects, and will enjoy a special selection of tasty food and craft cocktails, including an outdoor cooking extravaganza by Kevin Rathbun.
