Event Description

Asylum

The Most amazing play I have seen in a long, long time. " South England Conference Review.

"Asylum unpacks a powerful display of intrigue and interplay" British Union Conference Review

When people are broken they are prepared to, and will, go to great lengths, and make great sacrifices in search of healing. Christ came for a broken world, not a perfect one. He came not to punish, nor to penalise, but to restore. His mission was to restore broken humans to their original status and design. And that is our great commission. But who are the healers? Where are they? What is their motive, their modus, their method? Are they also broken and in need of healing and restoration? And if so how do the suffering offer salve?  Can the dead save the dying? Can the blind lead the blind? Where must we go for healing, where is the only place that we will find comfort? Asylum explores the relationship between justice, punishment & reconciliation and travels with three broken lives on their journey of healing, rehabilitation and acceptance.

Bruised and broken, Andrene, Stella, & Kayleigh arrive at The Haven in search of sanctuary. They are from different cultures, different worlds, with different experiences. But they share one desire and that is to be healed. Warden Sykes has been entrusted with their care, but she too is damaged, grieving and angry. She has the power, she has a score to settle and she is waiting.
