DAYROOM | Reuniting for Two Shows ONLY!

DAYROOM, the popular alt-rock band from Athens, GA is back for two nights only this November to rekindle your love of late nights, catchy lyrics, and addictive tunes. Best known for their raucous stage shows and willingness to experiment musically onstage, Dayroom captured the essence of college rock ‘n’ roll in the pre-Internet age. Formed in 1990, Dayroom quickly grew from a college side project formed by high school friends into a beloved staple of the Athens and Atlanta music scenes. The band made a name for itself by touring heavily, starting at its home base at University of Georgia and spreading throughout the South, eventually playing 250 days a year all over the United States and Europe and releasing three studio albums before amicably calling it a day in 2000.

“Cheap Wine” became Dayroom’s best-known and most beloved song, demonstrating the band’s signature mastery of movement and memorable lyrics. Easy to remember songs and a love for a good party, paired with the band’s remarkable depth, keep Dayroom in the forefront of minds and hearts across the region. Now the band will take the stage one more time, bringing the party, and the band, back to its roots in Georgia.

“Here’s a chance for us to do it and see everyone from back in the day,” says drummer Brad Zimmerman. “There’s no going home again to that time but we’re doing it because we can. To be able to touch on that feeling again is something I can’t even describe.”

James Riddle, keyboards, agrees. “We have something special that only the four of us can understand. I’m excited to be playing with these guys once again and falling back into the songs.”

Zimmerman, Riddle, bassist Ryan Kelly, and singer/guitarist Michael Winger will have only three short days to practice all together before hitting the stage at the Vista Room in Tucker, GA on Friday, November 29th and Saturday, November 30th

“We’re a pop band,” says Zimmerman. “There’s hooks and catches and things you hum over in your head. But every lyric Michael and Jimmy wrote had meaning, what we did wasn’t about trying to make a song that was popular. We just played; we didn’t know what we were doing. We just did it and everyone liked it: frats, goths, indie people…”

Since the band’s retirement in 2000, members of Dayroom have moved to different places in life but kept up the hope that they’d get together again, if only for a little while. “We’ve all got different priorities now,” says Riddle, “but I’m looking forward to being with my friends again and even just being in the same room and feeling what we felt back then. It’s going to be so good and so quick. But it’ll be a good two shows and I’m hoping to see as many people there as we can get.”

“I’m honored, humbled, and excited to touch back on this moment,” says Zimmerman. “It’s about having a really good time. And here we go!”

“Have some fun singing along to Dayroom, the greatest band you’ve never heard of.” –
