Please join City of Rome archivist and historian Selena Tilly and TRED Rome Floyd for a walking tour of historic Fort Norton and Jackson Hill. The tour will focus on three distinct eras of Jackson Hill: Fort Norton's Civil War trenches, the early city water works facilities, and the impact of the WPA on the area. Members of the Southern Paranormal Investigators will be on hand to share their findings of events that have occured on the Hill.
The walking tour will depart from the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission parking lot, 1 Jackson Hill Drive at 3pm. Due to the nature of the tour, it will be limited to 20 participants. This tour is not recommended for children under 12. The tour route includes steep slopes, uneven ground and a lot of walking; guests are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Water will be provided halfway through the tour but water is recommended if the day is warm.
Due to current state and local COVID 19 guidelines, we will require that everyone wear a mask.
