Atlanta Guitarist Glenn Phillips set to host the 1st Annual “Guitarclectic Festival” on Saturday June 23rd, 2018 at 7 pm. at the Hard Rock Café, Atlanta Ga.
This festival will pair young musicians with veteran legend players. By meshing the two we are bringing the experience of the veterans to the youth to help them gain experience performing and to provide an opportunity to be mentored by some of Atlanta’s most well-known guitarist’s.
Presented by Larry Hurley, (Smiley’s Unique Music) a long-time Atlanta promoter who worked along-side Alex Cooley and was instrumental in staging the infamous concerts at the Atlanta Motor Speedway and Piedmont Park in the late 70’s – 80’s. Who also along with Bob Fortin (Grapevine Talent) last year brought together the original members of Hydra (The 1st time in over 30 years) for the ultra successful reunion show at the Vista Room. Sold out in 10 days. Glenn Phillips Band and RADAR also performed at that show.
“Our intent is to provide an opportunity for young musicians to perform onstage with some of Atlanta’s finest musicians”. said Hurley. This festival will feature Glenn Phillips (Hampton Grease Band, Glenn Phillips Band), Moses Mo (Mothers Finest), Roger "Hurricane" Wilson, George Price (Wavetree, W/ Barry Richman, The George Price Trio) Spencer Kirkpatrick (Hydra), Jesse Williams Band, Reese Boyd. Rick Richards (Ga Satellites), Steve Pace (Hydra, Krokus), and Gary Gilbert (Nils Lofgren, Kansas).
The response has been so overwhelming future events are already in the planning stages with an outside festival in 2019 with a portion of the proceeds going to Atlanta young music charities or schools. Many of these players have over 40 years playing guitar at a high level.
