FRIDAY AUGUST 6TH AT BOGGS SOCIAL & SUPPLY - 8pm, $10adv, 21+
Sarah and the Safe Word is a six-piece queer cabaret rock band from Atlanta.
Since forming in 2015, they've kept themselves busy — being personally requested to join the lineup of the 2017 Vans Warped Tour by founder Kevin Lyman, making a cameo appearance on the CW's The Originals (playing a queer werewolf-witch wedding, no less!), gaining "Debut of the Year" praise from Alternative Press, embarking on several national tours around America, and signing to Take This To Heart Records in 2019.
"Sarah and the Safe Word exists in two worlds, each a century apart. The first is set behind a haze of cigarette smoke in a speakeasy’s back room, where daring storytelling of swashbucklers and a hot rod-racing demon only complements an already theatrical stage show. The second is the basement world of sweat-soaked punk shows and a collectivist mindset, encouraging free expression, sexual liberation, and community without boundaries." - Take This to Heart Records
ozello
ozello is a five-piece queercore band of punks from atlanta. with songs inspired by love, family, death, sexuality and aquatic animals, the group draws fans from all backgrounds and musical interests. their use of trumpet and violin bring a folky twist that is both unique and eclectic.
all the way from the swamps of south georgia, frontman jeofry wages writes songs straight from his soul and brings a stage presence full of fish jokes, crop tops and hair flips. they like to jump around and yell about their feelings with the hope that they’ll make someone feel something too. not only is ozello fun to watch on stage, but also the kind of people that’ll share their stories with you while drinking malibu for hours. their newest EP "Pronouns" can be found on any streaming service. ozello plans to begin recording a full-length album for release in 2021
The Organ Machines
The Organ Machines are a 3 piece band hailing from Atlanta. Taking inspiration from bands like Circa Survive and Death From Above 1979, they're known for their giant reverb laden guitar sound, moody bass, and driving, sometimes chaotic drums. Over time they've tread a line between dream pop aesthetics and more progressive and alternative rock stylings, landing in a niche they affectionately call dream rock. With lyrics stemming from everything between dark horror to more real life personal struggles, they released an album in 2019 called What Lies Within, following that in 2020 with two new singles, Entomb and Leave This Way, that showed a refinement of their sound.
